Luscious Cosmetics HD Mineral Liquid Foundation – Review & Guide

Luscious HD Mineral Foundation was my first choice in foundations when I began using makeup. I had tried their Studio Secret Concealer before and I wanted something good quality but readily available in Pakistan.

Product Claims

Luscious HD Mineral Foundation has a silky, lightweight formulawhich is made from pure minerals, vitamins and deep sea water. Glides onto the skin for perfect coverage, and evens out the complexion while allowing the skin to breathe. Contains 0% Oil and 0% Talc. Suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

What Do We Think?

The product comes in a clear 30mL plastic bottle with pump and a cap that clicks well in place and doesn’t fall off on its own hence it is travel-friendly. The packaging doesn’t look cheap and is not very breakable. The product does not have a strong odour and definitely fades once it sets. The formula is oil-free, lightweight and neither too thick nor too thin which is buildable too hence gives a choice over coverage: light, medium or full if layered up (does not look cake-y). The texture is smooth, blends easily without accentuating dry patches so it feels hydrating and gives a natural dewy finish. The foundation lasts through daylight hours without a primer in pleasant weather (7 - 8 hrs) on combination skin. You don’t even need to set it unless you have combination skin (only T-zone) or oily skin. For summers, apply a primer underneath and set it with a loose powder or compact to sustain it or if you have large pores. Since the foundation is oil-free, it works equally good in summers too, does not feel heavy at all and stays intact when set with powder or compact as the dewy finish might be too much to handle in summers for people with oily skin. I have combination skin which becomes very oily in summers and I have noticed this foundation makes my T-zone oily rather quickly in that season and I need to retouch it with my compact powder. You will be disappointed if you wish to conceal major blemishes or dark spots with it, you will need a concealer for that. We feel that the price is right for the formula because most other good drugstore foundations are in the PKR 2000 range. One among us who uses this foundation has large pores and she has not experienced any clogging of pores and breakouts. The foundation contains SPF 15 along with deep sea water minerals and vitamins so it does not oxidize. Despite containing SPF it photographs well and does not give a white cast which is usually the case with foundations containing SPF.The shade range is narrow but excellent for desi skin tones and lacks a pick for neutral tones as demonstrated by the swatches.

All the swatches are taken on respective skin tones.

Pink Porcelain 00: A fairly light shade with pink undertones.

This is perfect for cool toned fair ladies with pink undertones. It is not light enough for super pale people like many red heads and will not work for neutral toned ladies because it will look like you have a white cast on your face.

Ivory 0: It has yellow undertones only but it is considerably lighter than the next shade Natural 1.

This is only for warm toned ladies and is perfect for fair skinned women but not medium skinned ladies. Neutral toned women will look very yellow if they apply this to their face therefore Sadaf has to mix Ivory 0 and Porcelain 00 to create her neutral shade.

Natural 1: It is a medium shade – not too light or too dark and looks very natural when blended onto the skin although it has quite strong yellow undertones.

You may choose this shade if you have a warm complexion with yellow undertones. It will suit Medium (NOT dark) complexion with warm yellow undertones.

Note:

Dusky beauties, who find Natural 1 too light for them, should try the next shade in this range. All of the rest (Sand 1.5, Medium Beige 2 and Golden Beige 2.5) steadily increase in depth and have yellow undertones for warm toned ladies. Also, warm toned people have strong yellow undertone so it is okay if your foundation looks yellow. It will match your skin perfectly. Just focus on getting the right shade (i.e., how light or dark you are) in your yellow undertone foundation category.

Understanding Your Skin Tone:

Warm – Gold jewellery suits you more and the veins on your wrist are green
Cool – Silver jewellery suits you more and the veins on your wrist are blue
Neutral – Gold and silver jewellery both suit you and the veins on your wrist are purple or not clearly green/ blue

New Year's First Drugstore Haul

Hello fellow make up hoarders! Today I am sharing my first haul of the year with some essential and some spur of the moment shopping for lip products and brushes. I had plans to go to Enem Store in Liberty Market Lahore to pick up some make up brushes missing from my tool kit and ended up getting some more goodies!

I already have the DMGM blending brush and although I have not collected enough information to write a detailed review on it, I am super happy with its performance. So, I decided to try out some more basic brushes from this brand. I got the flat foundation brush (PKR 895) and the large powder brush from DMGM (PKR 1150). They have not disappointed me yet but I will write complete reviews once I have tested them to my satisfaction.

I have always been attracted to Bourjois products but I haven’t had a chance to try them before. I read good stuff about the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet (PKR 1350) lip colours so I bought 06 Pink Pong, which has a matte finish. It is a vibrant deep fuschia shade and has one of the most comfortable formulas I have ever applied.

I also purchased the Bourjois Effect 3D Max 8H Long Lasting lip gloss (PKR 1450) in No. 13 Orange fruity, which is a delicate shimmery coral.

Staying true to my lipstick obsession, I grabbed two from the Rimmel stand. One of them is the Rimmel Lasting Finish lipstick by Kate Moss No. 110 (red case) (PKR 875) and the other is No. 05 (black case) (PKR 875). No. 110 is an intense orange-y coral and No. 05 is a lovely everyday rosy pink.

Artdeco is one of those brands I often see in stores but never feel tempted enough to try. This time I picked up Artdeco Perfect Colour lipstick in No.4 (PKR 990), which a gorgeous matte cherry red shade that reveals its true beauty when applied to the lips I have learned.

Lastly, I was in dire need of a good large eye shadow brush and Colour Studio Professional has just launched their makeup brushes. So, I proceeded to grab their Flat Shader Eye shadow brush (PKR 350), which has been performing well so far.

I hope you guys enjoyed this haul post. Stay tuned for some exciting reviews coming soon!

Love,
Sadaf

Palmer’s Olive Oil Formula Conditioning Spray Oil - Review

Hola ladies! I have thin somewhat frizzy hair which become difficult to handle at times and are prone to breakage when tangled. Did this product work for my hair?

Product Claims

Natural extra virgin olive oil is loaded with Vitamins A, B and E and anti-oxidants to surround each hair strand with protection from damaging free radicals. Instantly restores moisture to dry hair. Excellent for braids to keep them soft and shiny.

How To Use

Use on clean dry hair. Pump a drop or two into palm. Apply lightly to scalp and hair as needed.

What Do We Think?

Fizzah: The product comes in a clear plastic bottle with a pump dispenser which protects the product from running into the cap and out even if it’s placed horizontally for hours. Press the pump once and that’s all what you need to cover your whole hair in a single use unless you have very long and thick hair. Most of us would remember Livon hair oil from our teenage; unlike that product, this oil is thinner in consistency only slightly thicker than water and indistinctly yellow/green in colour with a pleasant faint odour. Running your hands and fingers through the hair with the product until it’s all gone from your palms spreads it evenly without wanting more and weighing the locks down, applying more causes hair to become oily and weighs them down from scalp. My thin hair are prone to damage and breakage if tangled when I comb/brush through them. I use the oil when my hair are completely dry and most of the tangles are gone while applying it hence less breakage during combing/brushing. My tresses are naturally soft but the oil makes them super soft and shiny, and since I rarely use heat styling wands I have not tested the product in that case but I am quite sure it’ll help protect the hair against heat too. I have been using this oil for over a year now and have only used approximately 20mL of the 150mL bottle.

Uncombed hair in both the pictures

Sadaf: I apply it on wet hair, comb them with great ease and blow dry it. My hair does not feel damaged from the heat and it feels very soft, frizz free and easy to style.

Do not apply it to your scalp or roots because they will instantly look oily and may cause dandruff in the run long.

What we like most about Palmer’s products is that they are all Parabens and Sulfates free.

Makeup Revolution Cream Blush in Peach Cream - Review and Swatches

Hi fellow blush hoarders! Today I will be telling you about my experience with the second cream blush I bought, which is Makeup Revolution London Cream Blush in Peach Cream. I really like the fresh dewy youthful glow that cream and liquid blushes bring to my cheeks but I was not expecting much from this product because of the price tag. Find out if I retained my opinion after I used it!

Product Claims

This cream blush is easy to apply for a natural finish that is smooth and long lasting on the cheeks. It can be layered onto the cheeks for more depth.

What Do I Think?

The packaging is pretty standard with a nice circular compact shape and a transparent lid that helps identify the shade in a stash full of products that look the same. My favourite thing about Peach Cream is the colour which is exactly what I was looking for! It’s the perfect wearable shade in the orange spectrum so it appears to be lively peach shade on my neutral toned fair skin. I have tested it on cool and yellow toned skin as well and I am happy to report that it looked gorgeous! The texture is really smooth and creamy and not at all tacky which is a huge relief. I am quite happy with the pigmentation and find that it blends superbly onto my cheeks.

Even though peach is nobody’s natural flush it does not feel artificial when I pair it with my non-pink lipsticks much to my delight. It can be easily built up to the intensity you desire so it will show up on dark beauties too.  Peach Cream is a versatile shade perfect for daytime and night events and suits all skin tones in my opinion. I tested its lasting power without using setting powder on my combination skin. It lasted around 7 hours before I removed it myself. However, by that time half of the intensity had faded which was even though and it just appeared to be a lighter shade of peach. I am impressed with this kind of quality at such a reasonable price. I highly recommend it to the lovers of cream blushes and those who have yet to try this type. Who knows? You may fall in love and live happily ever after!

Price

PKR 375 for 3.4g

Availability

Online from MakeUp Revolution official website or Just4girls (Pakistan)

Pros

Great pigmentation
Fine texture
Easy blending
Buildable intensity
Affordable

Cons

I found none

My Rating

4.8/5

Have you tried any of the Makeup Revolution Cream Blushes?

Sadaf

Wet n Wild Mega Last Lipsticks – Review & Swatches

Hello ladies! Today’s post is going to be all about one of the most popular drugstore lipsticks these days. Wet n Wild Mega Last lipsticks have been raved about by bbloggers everywhere and we wanted to know what the hype was all about. Plus we instantly fell in love with the shade range, which has some very unique ones and some staple ones every girl should own. Read on as we share our experience!

Product Claims

This 4-hour, longwearing lip colour leaves a semi-matte, crème finish in one stroke. Glides on easily with rich, velvety color that doesn't cake, feather, or bleed. Made with hydrating skin-care ingredients: Hyaluronic Microspheres provide extraordinary adhesion to lips, an exclusive polymer complex offers cushion-like feel and texture, and natural marine plant extracts Coenzyme Q10 and Vitamins A & E help smooth lips.

What Do I Think?

The packaging is fragile, lipstick bullet keeps hitting with the cap whenever I use them. I feel this problem will be eliminated once the bullet is used enough that it doesn’t stay out of the tube anymore. WetnWild should give a thought about changing the packaging. I got 6 shades, two in summer and 4 later this winter. All of them have a semi matte crème finish which is neither hydrating nor drying; a good balance for matte lipsticks. They give opaque coverage in single swipe and do not feel heavy or sticky on lips. The bullets have a tendency to get a bit dry when temperatures fall therefore use a lip balm before application; however it’s not needed in summers with these lipsticks. My lips felt a bit dried out after some time when I used them without a balm in winter. They live up to their claims very well especially the lasting power, in this cold season they last on me for more than 4 hours with eating and drinking. I am happy with their performance especially at this price.

In The Flesh: Flesh toned pink/brown (appears pinker on warmer skin tones and browner on neutral/fair skin tones)

Rose Bud: Medium warm pink (A pretty rose pink for everyone)

Wine Room: Warm deep pink (Again a pretty pink for everyone)

Spiked With Rum: Warm brown with pink undertones (reminds me of roasted nuts and winter, a universal lip colour)

Cherry Bomb: Dark Blood Red (Looks great when blotted after application)

24 Carrot Gold: Neutral/Medium Muted Orange (Will suit fair/neutral/medium skin tones)

Mauve Outta Here: Medium mauve shade with slight rosy tones (Will suit fair/neutral/medium skin tones)

Just Peachy: Light warm peach on cool tone skin (looks a bit neon on neutral skin tone)

Cherry Picking: Bright Berry

Price

Approx. $4

Availability

I got mine from Just4girls.pk and Facebook Page Trends N Brands. Wet n Wild is more easily available internationally.

Pros

Super pigmented
Creamy
A wide range of colours
Long lasting
Affordable

Cons

Packaging
Not available in local stores

My Rating

4.5/5

Have you tried any of WetnWild Products? Would you like me try something else from the brand?

Fizzah and Sadaf
