Hello lovelies! Today I am going to introduce you to a new all natural, halal, cruelty free cosmetics brand launched by UK based Pakistani entrepreneur, Ayesha. It is called Mirror and Makeup London and currently offers a nice range of essentials for nature loving makeup freaks like me. They were kind enough to send me a package so read on to learn what I discovered about their claims.

What Do I Think?

Now whenever you hear about a brand using natural alternatives to conventional chemicals, you probably wonder how it affects the performance of the product. I am pleased to say that there was nothing negative about the formula of this lipstick. In fact, it sits so comfortably on my lips that I hardly feel it there all thanks to the goodness of natural ingredients listed on the tube. The packaging is light holding 3g of product and made up of matte silver plastic with a metallic bullet case and the name of the brand and product on the front with its logo.

It has a soothing Cirtus scent which lingers for a while because of the tangor (tangerine-orange hybrid) essential oil in it. The pigmentation is good and buildable while the texture is creamy but not smear-y, if that makes sense to you. The point is that it doesn’t bleed all over the place. Pink Lush is basically a bright deep pink with tons of purple shimmer making it look like a pure orchid colour. It reminds me of Colourpop Ultra matte Liquid Lipstick in Sundae. I am sure most of you cringed when I mentioned shimmer. Let me assure you there is nothing nasty about the shine rather it imparts sophisticated duochrome sheen courtesy of the mineral, Mica. There is no grittiness or discomfort on the lips because of the Mica. It lasted well over 6 hours on my lips with no feathering or transfer of shimmer around my mouth until I had a meal at which point it faded evenly from the center of my lips. You have to be careful with removal so that you don’t end up looking like you just ate ball of glitter, with really bad table manners.

What Do I Think?

Even though I am not a fan of Kylie Jenner, I have been looking for that oh-so-chic mauve brown that she made so popular. Lip Candy is like Kylie Jenner goes to Vegas (No product exists with this name). It comes in a short transparent 7 ml packaging with the ingredients are listed on it and a matte silver cap holding a stiff doe foot applicator which is perfect for its purpose. The colour is a warm brown with mauve shimmer sprinkled on top and the effect is uber pretty. This also includes Mica so the formula feels feather light and soft on the lips. Once I was done drooling over its duochrome gorgeousness, I noticed the pigmentation was really good too. Like the lipstick it also has the pleasant tangor scent to it. The formula is super comfortable and again it lasted well over 6 hours until I had a meal. Only the center of my lips looked bare while Lip Candy remained intact on the rest. It stays put where you apply it and doesn’t feel sticky in the least. What more could you possibly ask for in a lip gloss?

I must say I am quite impressed with these products and love them because of the formula. I agree they are expensive but if we rush to buy high end products with tons of chemicals surely we can spend some money on natural ones for sake of our health. I do wish the packaging was wow because of the price but that’s not a deal breaker for me personally. I hope they come out with a larger variety of lip shades in different finishes like cream, matte, satin, etc because most people steer clear of shimmery lips. If you can afford it, I highly recommend trying out their lipsticks and glosses because these have definitely earned a spot among my favorites.

Rimmel London Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipsticks - Review and Swatches

Hey girls! Today I am going to be showing you my collection of Rimmel Kate Moss lasting finish lipsticks, three of which are from their matte collection and one from their regular line. I have had them for quite a while so I have tested them well enough to pen down my thoughts on them.

I have recently discovered that Rimmel is not a cruelty free brand since they started selling in China and animal testing is required there by the law. I personally never recommend such brands even though they are very popular among girls here like Revlon, CoverGirl, L’Oreal, Maybelline, NYC, Almay and Bourjois too unfortunately I just found out. However, this is just my personal opinion and what you buy is your choice.

What Do I Think?

Packaging is quite important to me because I always keep lipsticks in my purse for touch-ups. The plastic does not feel cheap and the cap clicks in place securely. The slanted top with the logo on top makes it easier to spot for me. In my opinion a good lipstick should be pigmented, less prone to transferring, long lasting and comfortable to wear. Rimmel Kate Moss lasting finish lipsticks get an A grade in all these departments.

The matte ones (107, 110 and 111) remain intact on my lips even after 7-8 hours in all kinds of weather. If I have an oily meal only then does the product fade from the very center of my bottom lip. The regular shade is 05 and is predictably easier to budge after a meal but its lasting power is still pretty decent around 5-6 hours although it does transfer a bit more than the mattes. The formula of all the shades glides on easily and does not bleed which is essential to me. I don’t feel the need to use a lip liner underneath and they all go perfectly opaque in one swipe. The face swatches are the most accurate I feel.

Shade 05

This is what I would call the “good girl pink”. You know the one we grab every time we want people to think we are mature and sensible for example, in front of professionals, in-laws and "4pm guests". It has a nice amount of warmth to it so it won’t wash you want unless you fall in the chocolate or ebony category. It has a cream finish with a gentle shine.

Shade 107

This is a deep matte Marsala which is quite red but I feel this is more appropriate for evening looks although I have worn it during the day. It is universally flattering but not for the faint of heart.

Shade 110

This is an intense in-your-face coral with more orange than pink. It is very bright and spring-y. It looks beautiful on cool tones and even neutral skin tone but I am not sure how it would appear on warm toned ladies. It is best to swatch such colours before you buy them.

Shade 111 - Kiss of Life

This is the only shade with a proper name and I have been drooling over its online swatches for years. Kiss of Life is a stunning neutral red so coupled with its matte finish, it is a dream come true.

There are not that many shades in the matte range but there are a lot of choices in the regular collection to suit a wide range of skin tones. I know most women think a lipstick should not cost more than PKR 100 but I prefer not to have lead in my lipsticks so I think these offer a good bargain given the quality.

Artdeco Perfect Color Lipstick - Review and Swatches

Hello fellow make up addicts! Even though I own plenty of red lipsticks, I am always on the hunt for new formulas and finishes. I have never tried anything from Artdeco before so I decided to give it a try. I got the Perfect Colour lipstick in shade 4. Read on to find out more about my latest discovery!

Product Claims

The Perfect Color Lipstick a nourishing lipstick with high pigmentation and a creamy texture and is ideal for Magic Fix. The supple Perfect Color Lipstick provides an even color coverage, long durability and a silky skin feeling. Additionally Vitamin E protects against moisture loss. The metal sleeve protects the stick from melting when exposed to heat.

What Do I Think?

Let’s talk about the packaging first, which has a black metallic casing, and therefore heavier than the average lipstick. It does not feel cheap at all and has Artdeco written over the cap so I can easily find it among the dozens of similar lipsticks I have lying around my vanity. When I first slide the bullet out, it felt slightly fragile maybe because the bullet is narrower and longer than most. The colour is a gorgeous bright cherry red with my fair neutral skin tone, which looks different in various lighting conditions. It appears more orange in daylight. When I swatched it on my hand, I wasn’t impressed because it felt a bit sheer to my eyes. However, all my regrets disappeared once I applied it to my lips. It does not lack pigmentation and has a wonderfully soft and comfortable formula. There is no scent at all, which is great news for sensitive nosed people like me. The formula is a very natural matte, which does not accentuate dryness. It makes my lips smooth and soft because of the Vitamin E added to it I believe. There is no bleeding or feathering and minimum product transferring. The colour can be build up to the desired intensity very easily, which in my case is only two swipes. The staying power is pretty good as well. It lasted 4-5 hours on my lips, with only the center of my lips disturbed due to eating and drinking. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable matte red lip colour.

Hello ladies! Today’s post is going to be all about one of the most popular drugstore lipsticks these days. Wet n Wild Mega Last lipsticks have been raved about by bbloggers everywhere and we wanted to know what the hype was all about. Plus we instantly fell in love with the shade range, which has some very unique ones and some staple ones every girl should own. Read on as we share our experience!

Product Claims

This 4-hour, longwearing lip colour leaves a semi-matte, crème finish in one stroke. Glides on easily with rich, velvety color that doesn't cake, feather, or bleed. What Do I Think?

The packaging is fragile, lipstick bullet keeps hitting with the cap whenever I use them. I feel this problem will be eliminated once the bullet is used enough that it doesn’t stay out of the tube anymore. WetnWild should give a thought about changing the packaging. I got 6 shades, two in summer and 4 later this winter. All of them have a semi matte crème finish which is neither hydrating nor drying; a good balance for matte lipsticks. They give opaque coverage in single swipe and do not feel heavy or sticky on lips. The bullets have a tendency to get a bit dry when temperatures fall therefore use a lip balm before application; however it’s not needed in summers with these lipsticks. My lips felt a bit dried out after some time when I used them without a balm in winter. They live up to their claims very well especially the lasting power, in this cold season they last on me for more than 4 hours with eating and drinking. I am happy with their performance especially at this price.

In The Flesh: Flesh toned pink/brown (appears pinker on warmer skin tones and browner on neutral/fair skin tones)

Rose Bud: Medium warm pink (A pretty rose pink for everyone)

Wine Room: Warm deep pink (Again a pretty pink for everyone)

Spiked With Rum: Warm brown with pink undertones (reminds me of roasted nuts and winter, a universal lip colour)

Cherry Bomb: Dark Blood Red (Looks great when blotted after application)

24 Carrot Gold: Neutral/Medium Muted Orange (Will suit fair/neutral/medium skin tones)

My Daily Makeup Guide

Makeup is all about enhancing your features instead of layering up different products and end up looking like a disco ball. Getting familiar with makeup and using it is a dilemma many girls out there face who are new to it or are still getting used to it: What to wear and what to skip to get that “minimum makeup look” is usually the question asked by many newbies. Today I thought of sharing with you guys what I personally like to do to keep my face fresh and colourful without going overboard. I am neither a professional makeup artist nor an advisor; everything I share here is based completely on my experiences.

Start off with a clean face. A cleaner face requires less makeup to make it look better. Here is what I like to do in my routine.

Primer (optional)

A primer is applied before you apply foundation/BB cream to reduce the appearance of pores and make your makeup last longer without budging or fading away. Use a tiny amount of your favorite primer and apply onto your face and neck especially concentrating on the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) where you are most likely to get oil.

What I Prefer

I skip this step until and unless I want my makeup to stay intact the whole day. I use MUA Face Primer.

Moisturizer/BB cream

Use a moisturizer to replenish your skin of the lost oils. Your skin needs moisturization irrespective of the season. Use either a clear moisturizer or a tinted one (BB cream) if you have uneven skin tone.

What I Prefer

I prefer a moisturizer which does not feel heavy on the skin. I have used Garnier BB Cream as well as the Maybelline one and found the latter to be more comfortable on my face. I like to wait one or two minutes after applying BB cream to let it set before I proceed.

Concealer

Apply your go-to concealer in a small quantity under your eyes to cover up dark circles or double up the BB cream if you do not own a concealer yet. Make sure you blend well.

What I Prefer

I skip a concealer in routine makeup unless I have to deal with severe dark circles. My BB cream doubled up as concealer works well for my under eyes. On bad days, I use my Luscious Studio Secret Concealer.

Mattifying Powder

Use a compact powder or loose translucent powder to keep your face matte and lock your makeup in place. Dust a little concentrating on your T-Zone, do not layer up if you use compact powder otherwise it will look cakey.

What I Prefer

Using a fluffy brush instead of a sponge to apply compact powder gives me just enough of the product preventing the cakey appearance. I use Essence Mattifying Compact Powder (Natural Beige) or Oriflame Air Soft Powder (Clear) or Catrice Prime and Fine Translucent Loose Powder.

Highlighter (Optional)

Wearing eye shadows daily may not be everyone’s cup of tea, instead try using a highlight shadow or pencil (champagne, rose gold or off-white or white) on your brow bone, middle of eyelid and inner eye corners to brighten them up.

What I Prefer

I like to use my Essence Stays No Matter What eye pencil in “Whipped White Frosting” on my eyelids, inner eye corners and brow bone to give my eyes extra dimension.

Mascara

Apply lots and lots of mascara to open up your eyes both on your upper and lower lashes. Doing this even when you are not using eyeliner makes your eyes appear wider and bigger. Just make sure you apply mascara on EVERY single lash fanning them out.

What I Prefer

I like to wear mascara in steps; I wait for the first coat to dry before I apply a second and third coat. This helps me build up the volume and length since I have very thin lashes. I use Essence Maximum Definition Volume Mascara.

Blush

Use your favourite blush concentrating on your cheek bones instead of apples of cheeks to get that defined sculpted look. You can skip a bronzer if you apply blush this way. Make sure you blend well, though.

What I Prefer

Since its winters; the season to take out all those warm and deep blushes one has, I like to apply a warm blush such as MUA Blush “Bon Bon”, Sleek Blush “Pomegranate” or Makeup Revolution Vivid Blush Lacquer “Heat” on my cheekbones for a definite sculpted look.

Lipstick/Lip Gloss

Winters call for berry and plum lips. If you are not comfortable wearing a dark lip colour wear any that you like or are comfortable with. Do not hesitate to experiment with lipstick shades though; some might pleasantly surprise you, who knows?

What I Prefer

Being a lipstick hoarder and a fan of full opaque lips, I like to experiment with my lip colours. But for this season I am all berry and plums. My favourites for the season are Essence Matte Lip Cream in “Smooth Berry”, Colour Studio Professional Pure Matte Lipstick in “La Rouge” Essence Long Lasting Lipstick in “On The Catwalk” and WetnWild Mega Last Lipstick in “Cherry Bomb”.

Makeup is about one’s preferences and comfort zone but, like I always encourage my friends, sisters and you guys, experiment with techniques and colours. One not only learns this way but also discovers what looks good and what looks better.
