October Haul!

Hello beauties! This is the second haul post on our blog and I am really excited to show you all what I got this time. I, Sadaf and another one of our friends had placed a HUGE order with just4girls.pk which I received on October 25 but unfortunately the “big” order had shrunk a little bit due to unavailability of some items. Anyhow, I loved the items I managed to get and it became quite difficult for me to concentrate on the thesis viva which I and Sadaf had on October 27 :D. That too went well Alhamdulilah and we again treated ourselves to makeup and went shopping after viva, haha! I am going to share my part of shopping here with you guys and we can surely ask Sadaf to share her part too :D Enjoy!

Time to try out new eye lashes (^_^)

MUA Textured Lashes - Glam (PKR 350)
This is my second time I have bought this concealer. The first time I bought it, Luscious had only 3 shades and number 2 was my match but this time I bought it after Luscious came out with two more shades in the range and this time it was shade 1.5 which was my match which was quite surprising for me. And moreover the shade 1.5 was slightly different than the old number 2, which was another surprise to me.

Luscious Studio Secret Instant Brightening Concealer - Number 1.5 (PKR 925)
Finally got my hands on these beauties (^_^)

Makeup Revolution Vivid Blush Lacquer - Heat, Bloom and Desire (PKR 600)
I am all crazy for blue eye shadows these days, Sadaf can tell that better haha!

Essence Eye shadow - 11 Wild At Heart (PKR 280)
This was the last piece available on just4girls and that too on sale! (^_^)

Catrice Absolute Eye Colour - Carbon Bleu (PKR 442)
I got these Luscious Color Stories on a special Ramadan offer, buy one get one free! Isn't that amazing? I did not believe it either since Ramadan is long gone.

Luscious Color Stories - Rain Dance (12), Sunset Cruise (02) (PKR 440)

Essence Gel Eyeliner - 01 Midnight In Paris (PKR 530)
Another one of my favourite lipstick shade by Luscious.

Luscious Super Moisturizing Lipstick - Creamy Rose (PKR 645)
Thank you Sadaf for getting me this gem, I am loving it :D

Colour Studio Professional Pure Matt Lipstick - La Rouge (PKR 750)
MUA concealer brush was on sale on just4girls so I just had to get it.

MUA F3 Concealer Brush (PKR 270)
Since our order from just4girls was exceeding Rs. 4000 we got these two pencils are Free Gift, which have not managed to grab my attention much.

Luscious Super Moisturizing Lipsticks - A Mini Guide and Review

Hello lovelies! Today I will be reviewing the Luscious super moisturizing lipsticks from a much loved local brand known for its affordable prices yet great quality. Also, since I have quite a collection of these, today will be a small lesson on what lip colors suit what skin tones. I am no expert but I have learnt from my mistakes and hope to help those who are often confused like me when it comes to shade selection.

Product Claims

A creamy and moisturizing formula enriched with Vitamin E and Grape Seed Oil for healthy lips. Designed for all day comfort and natural color results. Each shade is now a celebrity! Available in 20 satin-finish, shimmer and glossy shades.

Under Flash

What Do I Think?

I like how the design is simple yet not cheap to look at and the Luscious logo is a nice touch. There are a lot of good things to say about this range and I think the best part is that they are fragrance free so no one has to avoid them just because of an undesirable scent. The first thing I probably look for in any lip product is the pigmentation. I think this is one of the most heavily pigmented lipsticks I have ever tried. The creaminess plays a part in this I feel because it glides on so effortlessly that I don’t have to keep swiping it over my lips to get good color payoff. I was really happy that it lived up to its claim of being super moisturizing. It has an average staying power of about 3-4 hours with minimal eating and drinking. It is unfortunate that the staying power is affected in hot and humid weather and that is my only issue because the weather here is mostly hot. This can be remedied by using a lip liner underneath and making sure you don’t load up too much of the product on your lips.

What Colors to Choose for Your Skin tone?

The arm swatches above are on my neutral skin and today my sister will be the cool toned model while my blog partner Fizzah represents the warm toned dusky beauties. The lip swatches below will show you how a color looks completely different on a person with another skin tone. While picking out a lip color for yourself, go with the age old philosophy “Nature knows best”. Study your natural lip color. If it has more pink, you know that pink tones are a safe bet for you, if it has more brown in it then choose one where brown tones are more prominent. It can be tricky to find a balanced color that suits you perfectly.

The tones in your lip color should match those of your skin for example, cool toned people should go for cool lip shades. If cool toned women go for darker warmer shades they might look too harsh on them and cooler lighter lip colors clash with warm toned skin and may even wash them out. All the lip swatches have been taken in daylight. I hope you guys find this useful.

Sunset Pink

It is a peachy neutral beige color.

Its full intensity shows up on cool tones. It has a white base so it clashes with the yellow tones in neutral and warm skin tones.

Honeydew

It is a warm latte.

The yellow tones in neutral and warm skin tones absorb the brown color making it appear lighter. It is a beautiful nude for warm tones.

Haute Pink

It is a bright pink shade.

The red tones of this shade are more prominent on a cool toned person and it looks pinker as the warmth of the skin tone increases. It looks great on everyone though.

Just Peachy

It is a medium peach color.

On a darker warm toned person it appears much lighter, almost as a pretty everyday medium to nude color depending on your depth.

Just Peachy on a Warm Toned Person
Dreams

It is a mocha pink shade.

An ideal every day color for a dark warm toned person but the brown in it shows up a lot more on neutral and cool skin tones.

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Butter - Review

Hello lovely ladies! It’s that time of the year when we all have to deal with chapped lips and dry skin. Don’t forget to drink lots of water besides using hydrating products for your skin. A must-have product for Fall/Winters in every lady’s purse is a lip balm and the product under the spotlight today is “Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Dark Chocolate & Peppermint Lip Butter”!

Palmer’s have an extensive skin care, hair care and lip care range. Their lip butters are available in three options: Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Butter with SPF 15 Cocoa, Cocoa Butter Formula Dark Chocolate & Cherry Lip Butter and Cocoa Butter Formula Dark Chocolate & Peppermint Lip Butter.

Product Claims

Softens and soothes your dry, chapped lips.  Made with a special formulation of Palmer's pure Cocoa Butter, Vitamin E and Petrolatum, it provides your lips ultra-moisturization.

Directions

May be used under or over lipstick or alone for a natural, glossy look.

Ingredients

Petrolatum, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Tocopheryl Acetate, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Saccharin, Flavor.

What Do I Think?

Where should I begin with? Packaging or the scent? Ok let’s leave the more exciting part for later :D The product comes in a squeezable palm sized soft tube which has a flat mouth with a little hole to dispense the product, the opening is very appropriately sized considering the product’s consistency. The tube has a secure screw cap so you can easily throw it inside your purse. The flat smooth mouth of the tube allows the product to spread evenly and easily on the lips. The product itself is a clear one with thick gel-like consistency which, let me tell you, is not at all sticky. You get 10g of product which might sound not much but a little goes a long way; you only need a little bead-sized product to cover your whole lips. Now the exciting part! It has an ah-mazingly delicious chocolate peppermint smell! (and it tastes sweet too) I love it! I can smell it all day to be honest :D. That was too much, wasn’t it? But this is the most deliciously-scented product I have in my stash right now. The strong scent might be a downside for some people but hey! It’s chocolate after all and who does not like chocolate? The peppermint in this product gives a slight tingling feeling which I felt to be refreshing. The strong scent fades away though after some time of application. It stays on the lips for 1 to 2 hours with eating and drinking and you might need reapplication depending upon the severity of your chapped lips.

Another great thing in my opinion is that this lip butter is available in two flavours and one without any flavour for people who detest strong scents.

The Cocoa Butter Formula Dark Chocolate & Cherry Lip Butter smells and tastes of Chocolate and Cherries. Sounds delicious, right? :)

Bare Dry Lips
Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Butter - Applied
L - CSP Pure Matte Lipstick Lust (without Palmer's Lip Butter applied underneath), R - CSP Pure Matte Lipstick Lust (with Palmer's Lip Butter applied underneath)
I found this lip butter to give my lips a smooth surface to apply lipsticks especially the matte ones. I have used it underneath the most matte lipstick I have in my stash right now that is Colour Studio Pure Matte (Lust) and it made the lipstick easy to apply and also gave it a slight sheen (not glossy), and yes it did work on keeping my dry lips hydrated when wore alone. This product can be a great help for those people who want to wear matte lipsticks in Fall/Winters but cannot do so due to dry lips.

CSP Pure Matte Lipstick Lust with Palmer's Lip Butter applied underneath
Oh yes I have also tried it over the lipsticks and it gives them a glossy look when worn that way.

All in all I really like it and would definitely recommend it to those who are looking for a pocket-friendly lip butter for this season.

Price

$3.30

Availability

On all the big stores where Palmer’s is sold (I bought it from just4girls.pk but they do not have Palmer’s products anymore for some reason)

Pros

Non-sticky
Hydrating
Chocolate scent
Pocket-friendly
Good consistency
Available in two flavours and one without any flavour.

Cons

Strong scent (for some people)

My Rating

5/5 (I love it!)

Have you tried any of the products from the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula range?

Please leave your experiences in the comments below. :)

Fizzah

Catrice Prime and Fine Translucent Loose Powder - Review

Hey lovelies! Hope you guys are enjoying the pleasant change in weather but in my part of the world, there are still hot and sweaty days. Regardless, one should never underestimate the importance of a good setting powder! I will be reviewing the Translucent Loose Powder from the Catrice Prime and Fine range today. Read on to find out how it fared in my opinion.

Product Claims

Transparent loose powder for a longlasting matt-effect and a fixed foundation, without drying out the skin. Result: An even, velvety-matt but radiant complexion.

What Do I Think?

For starters, it always makes me happy when makeup comes in big jars. It just gives me a little satisfaction that at least I am paying for a reasonable amount of product. We have a pretty long summer around here and it’s even worse in monsoon when the humidity levels shoot to the skies! How is a girl to keep her makeup on properly in such conditions I ask you? Thankfully, this product proved to be one of the heroic saviors! The texture is really fine and that’s a must for every setting powder. A plus point is that it actually is translucent when blended, despite its scary white appearance. So I am happy to report that it does not create a white cast on my face when applied. Another cool thing is that it actually serves to brighten my complexion and definitely makes it seem finer!

Catrice Prime and Fine Translucent Loose Powder (Partially Blended)

Catrice Prime and Fine Translucent Loose Powder (Completely Blended)

Now, let’s talk about the most important point, does it do its job well? The answer is yes! I love the feel of my skin after I apply it over my foundation. It really helps to keep my makeup on for a much longer period of time and aids in keeping my T-zone oil free for quite some time. I tested this product in extreme humid weather. I exercised and walked around for a few hours and my make up stayed on my face despite the sweat even in such weather. I was impressed. In fall, this loose powder kept my make up fresh from morning till evening apart from some oil on my T-zone half way through the day. I think it will suit every type of skin and does its work well.

Price

PKR 999 (For 11g)

Availability

Some major departmental stores across Pakistan.

Pros

Silky smooth texture
Helps control oil
Keeps makeup in place for a long time
Good amount for the price
Translucent so it will suit every skin shade

Cons

Not everyone might find it affordable
May be hard to find in some cities

My Rating

4.5/5
