Hello
lovely ladies! Today I will be reviewing the Makeup Academy Smokin eye shadow palette,
which is rumored to be a close dupe of the Urban Decay Smoked eye shadow
palette. Comparing the two by online swatches and reviews, I have come to the
conclusion that the only difference is the absence of a mini eye primer in the
MUA one. Read on to find out why this is my go-to palette for dramatic smokey
looks.
Product Claims
The
brand new Smokin Palette is the ultimate travel friendly kit featuring ten
stunning eye shades in a mix of matte nudes and shimmering jewel tones complete
with an intense smoky black kohl pencil.
What Do I Think?
The
packaging is sturdy for the price but still there will be major damage if you
drop it. The eye shadows are pressed into rectangular pans and the case also
houses a smokey eye pencil going with the theme. I love this pencil because it
is super black, creamy and extremely easy to blend for any kind of smokey eye.
Don’t ever use it as a kohl pencil though because it will give you panda eyes. The
shades are all smooth and buttery and I am impressed with their high quality at
such an affordable price. There are really easy to apply and blend. They last
well depending on the weather, primer application and how oily your lids are. I
wore then on my non-oily lids with Essence I Love Stage eye primer for around
5-6 hours on a pleasant winter’s day and there was no creasing. Keep in mind,
when you are using this creamy pencil it may feel like the shimmery shadows are
creasing because of it. A good idea would be to use an eye pencil/base of a
similar colour before applying the shimmer shadows.
Moving
onto the colours, they are a fabulous collection of irresistible jewel tones,
seductive earthy and ashy hues along with two highlight options and an
essential matte black. So, there are three mattes and the rest are fine
shimmers.

their smokey eye looks or are lovers of jewel tones. For those of you wishing
to save money on the UD Smoked palette, this is a great alternative.
